The Hungarian public broadcaster MTVA has launched its long-awaited new sports channel.

Known as M4 Sport, it officially made its debut on July 18 and is intended as a non-commercial rival to existing sports services.

On air from 16.00 on weekdays and from mornings to evenings at weekends, it will offer viewers a wide range of sports coverage including Champions League football, Formula 1 racing and Olympic Games.

As previously reported in Broadband TV News, Antenna Hungária was due to start distributing M4 Sport on its MinDig TV DTT platform at the beginning of this month.
