For the second year in a row, NBC has broadcast Spain's San Fermin festival, which includes the running of the bulls, across the US.
During 2014, NBC directly acquired the high definition (HD) feed from the Spanish public broadcaster RTVE, but for the 2015 event it has decided to purchase its own signal produced by the Mediapro unit Overon. Overon deployed an 11-strong team of professionals and produced an HD feed with one DSNG and two satellite operators. The staff helping the NBC team comprised a producer, a technical manager, a sound technician, a mixer, three camera operators and three assistants.
Last year, NBCUniversal inked a deal with RTVE through which the event's highlights and programmes focusing on the popular celebration were broadcast for NBC's Esquire Network.
This year the running of the bulls delivered an average of nearly 1.7 million viewers - with peaks of 1.82 million - to RTVE giving almost a 70% share
