SPI /FilmBox expand African footprint

SPI International and its subsidiary FilmBox and African media firm OVY Network are to extend their channel distribution agreement onto multiple territories across the continent.
SPI OVYEight channels from the SPI International/FilmBox portfolio initially set for OVY’s home territory in Botswana will be also available through satellite on OVYtv in Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The FilmBox channel line-up consists of two movie channels – FilmBox Africa and FilmBox Arthouse – plus FightBox, a martial arts channel; Fast’nFunBox, an extreme sports channel; DocuBox, a documentary channel; FashionBox, said to be the world’s first native HD channel devoted to fashion; 360TuneBox, a music channel; and MadscreenBox, a live, interactive game channel with family-oriented entertainment.
“We are excited to expand our footprint in Africa,” commented Filmbox International executive director Berk Uziyel. “So far our channels have been performing very well throughout the region. This is why our partner OVY Network decided to carry eight of them on its OVYtv platform in multiple territories.”
