DIRECTV-owned channel Win Sports will increase its target by more than five million Colombian households, as it has signed a multi-operator agreement with América Móvil's Claro TV, UNE-Tigo and Telefónica's Movistar TV.
The channel, which delivers sports programming with a focus on Colombian football, was already operating through DIRECTV and nearly 140 local operators.
“Knowing companies such as Claro, Movistar or UNE-Tigo believe in Colombia's professional football is a great announcement for our institution,” said Ramón Jesurun, president of Colombian football association, DIMAYOR. “These agreements prove the distribution network is working well for our football, and every day there are more homes connecting to the national competitions.”
Mauricio Correa, president of Win Sports, added: “Through these distribution deals, we are ratifying the pay-per-view model for football, which is already being used in many other countries. We guarantee we're delivering this content to every pay-TV subscriber, which pays for our channel.”
Through Win Sports, which launched in 2012, every professional football game in Colombia will be broadcast, including La Liga, the Torneo and the Copa Águila.
