With 11 games a week in high definition (HD), multi-camera angles and availability on mobile devices, Telefónica's Movistar TV has announced it will keep the exclusive rights to Spain's second division, Liga Adelante, and is preparing an unprecedented technological display.
For the current season, which is about to kick off, the merged Movistar-Canal+ platform aims to increase Liga Adelante's visibility, creating a social conversation around it through the hashtag #UnaSegundaDePrimera – 'a first class second division'.
Every match will be broadcast live in HD and one other channel will air the matches in succession. Each game will be filmed by eight HD cameras plus two mini-cameras recording the benches and changing rooms. In addition, four powerful microphones will broadcast the sounds of the players on the field.
The competition will be also available for mobile and connected devices through the Yomvi platform and its app, and the highlights will be also available on Movistar's Futbol App.
The Telefónica platform, Spain's leader regarding subscribers, lost exclusivity for La Liga's first division when it was forced to sell rights to both Vodafone TV and Orange TV. But the pay-TV service intends to keep exclusive rights on the second division.
