Samsung aims to add video edge with new Galaxy range

Making its latest move as it slugs it out with Apple for smartphone dominance, Samsung has launched the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+.

samsung S6The new 5.7” smartphone is said to build on the ‘unique and innovative’ design of the Galaxy S6 edge. Featuring a combination of metal and glass in a seamless design, the Galaxy S6 edge+ is claimed to feature the market’s best screen technology featuring Samsung’s dual-edge design; the most advanced camera for high-quality photos and videos; the latest fast wireless and wired charging; and a powerful processor.

In terms of multimedia capabilities, the device boasts deep screen contrast and details through Samsung’s 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display. Video capabilities include Steady Video, which provides video digital image stabilisation on both the front and rear camera for what Samsung says is sharp, crisp video on-the-go.

The Galaxy S6 edge+ also features 4K video filming and a live broadcast function, which lets people instantly live stream full HD video straight from the phone to any individual, group of contacts, or even the public through YouTube Live. Anyone who receives the YouTube link from a fellow Galaxy S6 edge+ user is able to experience live-streamed video from his or her smartphone, tablet, PC or smart TV with YouTube connectivity.

Coinciding with the device launch, the company also announced the launch of Samsung Pay, a mobile payment service, with a UK launch date to be announced in due course. Protected by Samsung KNOX, fingerprint verification and digital tokenisation, Samsung Pay works with both MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) and NFC (Near Field Communication) technologies, bringing consumers closer than ever to a world without wallets.
