BBC Worldwide in Asia has announced the appointment of Kenny Hau as advertising strategic partnership and development director, Southeast Asia.

In this newly created role, Kenny is tasked with growing advertising and sponsorship revenue, planning and identifying new growth opportunities for the key channel brands for BBC Worldwide in the region.

He will work closely with BBC Worldwide's pan-regional and global advertising sales teams, and manage local affiliate partner ad sales relationships and local sales houses, developing sponsorship packages across the non-news business and programme syndication.

Prior to joining BBC Worldwide, Kenny held various regional sport and entertainment roles with Catalyst Media Group, Commonwealth McCann, GroupM ESP and ESPN Star Sports.

Monty Ghai, SVP and general manager for South-east Asia at BBC Worldwide, said: "Southeast Asia region is a dynamic and important region for BBC Worldwide. We are very excited to have someone of Kenny's calibre join the team. He has held senior management roles in broadcast media networks, specialist agencies and a media agency conglomerate and has worked on award-winning projects. With Kenny's expertise and experience joining the team, we are now well placed to drive new commercial opportunities and serve the needs of the market place."

Kenny commented: "I'm very pleased to be joining BBC Worldwide at this particular juncture and particularly excited by the opportunity to harness the BBC's world class capabilities and content to deepen our advertising partnerships."

Kenny joins Monty's Southeast Asia team comprising Gayatri Singh, who joined as senior sales manager in June, heading up content sales; and Cheryl Png, senior manager, affiliate sales.
