Brazil's Globo has selected Ateme's Kyrion encoder, multiplexer and Ateme Management System (AMS), to power, control and manage its primary distribution feeds.
The Kyrion encoder has been designed for contribution and primary distribution over satellite and IP networks. The Kyrion CM5000 is based on Ateme 5th generation Stream compression engine, delivering high video quality at minimum bitrates.
AMS provides control and management of both Ateme products and over 3,000 third-party products and is based on an open platform, with industry standard APIs. It can control any task and product, hardware or software based, including a virtualised environment.
"The high density, high video quality Kyrion encoder, with built-in modulation and encryption, enables ATEME to offer unparalleled primary distribution solution," said Ateme CEO Michel Artieres. "The Kyrion encoder, coupled with the powerful, yet easy to operate AMS management system, enables Globo to save CAPEX and reduce OPEX link."
With over 120 affiliates nationwide, Globo is Brazil's largest broadcaster, delivering HD and ISDB-T 1seg services.
