Tanzanian pay-TV operator Azam TV has become Rwanda Football Federation's official broadcast partner in a five-year league sponsorship deal worth US$2.35 million.

Matches from the league, to be known now as the Azam Rwanda Premier League, will be broadcast by the pay-TV operator alongside its existing coverage of the premier leagues in Uganda and Burundi and Kenya's FKF PL.

"We are exited after reaching an agreement with Azam TV to sponsor Rwandan League. We believe that their support will leave an improvement to the welfare of our clubs thus improving the standard of the game," said Vincent Nzimwita, president, Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA).

Rhys Torrington, CEO, Azam Media said the first of its kind deal for the league was important "in the history of Rwanda's football". He added that Azam TV is "committed to supporting football development" in the East African country.

The next season of the Azam Rwanda Premier League kicks off on 18 September 2015
