Lebara Play has increased the Asian content on its live TV and video-on-demand (VOD) platform for its Hindi, Bengali and Punjabi viewers in Europe.

The deals bring content from the Star Network, Viacom18's Colors, Sony MSM network, Zee TV, PTC, B4U and the Times Network to the Lebara Play platform, in addition to its existing Tamil, Turkish and French and English West African content.

"Thanks to the relationships we've built with the world's leading specialist content providers, we're able to give customers access to all their favourite channels and movies in one place. Existing providers take a 'one size fits all' approach for ethnic viewers, whereas we have an in-depth understanding of our audiences' needs and provide niche but deep content, with no commitment or upsell," said Aditya Thakur, CEO, Lebara Play app.

The Lebara Play, now available in 39 European countries, provides live TV shows with free and premium VOD content, which now includes transactional VOD and the option to 'rent' a film. Subscription packages start at 9.99 a month for Internet, smartphone or tablet users.

The service is also available via set-top box in the UK, Germany, Netherlands and France.
