Michel Combes will become the new head of Altice, effective September 1.

According to Le Figaro, the position is being vacated for him by Patrick Drahi, a long-standing friend and company’s main shareholder.
Combes is likely to oversee a period of restructuring at Altice, which includes Numéricâble among its assets.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the telecom industry.

Most recently, he was CEO of Alcatel-Lucent from April 2013, prior to which he was CEO, Europe Region, at Vodafone for four years.

Previously, he held positions at France Telecom (twice), its subsidiary Globecast and Nouvelles Frontières Group.
