A week late but still on time for most of the football season, Movistar+ has launched a second-screen app to complement its extensive coverage of La Liga, including video-on-demand (VOD) recaps and highlights, statistics and social TV features.

Even though the app is free to download, only subscribers to Movistar+ or Yomvi, the online platform, can watch the La Liga VOD content which includes every goal and important moments.
In addition, through a single log-in system, the app will give access to audiovisual features included in each viewer's pay-TV subscription, such as the multi-camera option included in some of Canal+ Partidazo games, while Canal+ Liga broadcast have a single camera.
The mobile platform also delivers live statistics, information about each team and access to older videos. As with other sports app, Movistar+futbol enables each user to create alerts for goals, teams, games and even video interviews with players.
But the newly-launched app doesn't include live games, as all the streaming traffic is to be directed through the Yomvi app, also available for iOS and Android.
