Game of Thrones, one of the most successful series ever, will be broadcast for the first time outside of HBO LATAM's line-up on Cinemax across Latin America, in a bid to push the now independent channel.
From 8 September, Cinemax will air the series from season one. Game of Thrones will complement an extensive series portfolio which includes Mad Men, Hell On Wheels and, also premiering soon, A Young Doctor's Notebook.
The channel targets 40 million subscribers across LATAM with some of the best HBO-produced programming, as well as films from Hollywood studios like Warner Bros, Universal, Sony and Disney.
Cinemax is a long-standing player in Latin America's pay-TV scene, having been part of the HBO/MAX premium package since 1994. But in 2012, the HBO group re-launched it as an independent network, with a basic line-up and commercial content. And the group claims the strategy is working, as the network has shown growth over the last two years.
