MundoMax, Meruelo Media expand US partnership

US-based Spanish-language network MundoMax and Meruelo Media have announced an enhanced partnership in Los Angeles and Houston.
In addition to providing its programming, MundoMax will also assume sales and marketing responsibilities for KWHY-TV, Channel 22 - the MundoMax flagship station in Los Angeles - along with KUVM-CD, Channel 34, which serves the Houston DMA, in co-operation with existing station management.
"Both MundoMax and Meruelo Media are committed to the success of MundoMax and to making the necessary investments and changes to position the network for maximum sustainable growth in each market," said Ibra Morales, president of the RCN-owned network.
"We are confident that this new operational framework will give MundoMax real-time flexibility and the potential for greater success in these two very competitive markets," added Otto Padron, Meruelo Media president.
Effective immediately, MundoMax, which is owned and operated by the Colombian media conglomerate RCN Television Group, will have in place its new sales structure headquartered in New York, with offices in Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami, continuing to offer clients solutions for their marketing needs in the US Hispanic market.
In addition, MundoMax will introduce one-minute local and national news briefs, that will air during commercial breaks, as well as debuting three new series this fall, and will revamp its national news format for 2016.
