The new contemporary, documentary-style The Muppets show, produced by ABC Studios and The Muppets Studio, is to premiere on Canal Sony throughout Latin America.
On 5 November, Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Networks Latin America's pay-TV signal will take the popular puppets back to prime time through all its LATAM feeds.
Aiming to repeat the success of its previous incarnations, but in a less child-oriented style, The Muppets show will explore the characters' personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work.
Produced and written by Bill Prady (The Big Bang Theory) and Bob Kushell (Anger Management), the series explores a new side to the Muppets in a show that will be a "completely similar and completely different series to the original Muppets show," said the producers.
When it broadcast in the 70s and 80s, the first series aired in over 100 countries and reached a 235-strong million audience. The characters also spawned nine movies, filmed between 1979-2014, and many TV specials.
