Kaltura has launched the Kaltura MediaX platform.

MediaX is designed to support cloud DVR services for pay-TV operators, content providers and broadcasters, with monetisation features.

Revenue-generating options include allowing subscribers to increase their cloud DVR quota, add new users or devices per household, upgrade from catch-up to cloud DVR and connect recordings to existing social media features. It also allows the long-term storage of catch-up items and recordings.

In addition to the cloud DVR solution, Kaltura MediaX will also provide customers with tools for content discovery and accessibility. And as part of the MediaX roadmap, Kaltura will launch other innovative enhancements including metadata enrichment and predictive analytics. MediaX Metadata Enrichment will enhance customers' content discovery and increase content consumption, by providing access to a wide variety of traditional and Internet-based data sources. MediaX Predictive Analytics will analyse viewing usage patterns to anticipate user preferences and make content more discoverable.

"As the face of media consumption changes rapidly, operators are putting cloud DVR at the centre of their strategy to meet consumer needs," said Ron Yekutiel, Kaltura co-founder, chairman and CEO. "We are uniquely positioned to offer an end-to-end suite of services that make it easy for subscribers to find and watch content including catch-up, download-to-go and cloud DVR. With the addition of MediaX to our OTT TV platform, both new and existing customers can benefit from Kaltura's flexibility and superior video experience, while optimising data accessibility and usage."
