Antena 3 tops news-related social TV activity in Spain

Antena 3 Noticias has topped news-related social TV activity in Spain - a country with a large social TV audience and strong mobile habits to become the first TV news programme Twitter profile to reach one million followers.

Since it launched in May 2010, @A3noticias has put out over 85,000 tweets through which it has communicated news to a growing social audience. Now, according to Atresmedia, which produces the show, its community of followers is wider, more interactive and more international.

In addition to Twitter, Antena 3 Noticias' Facebook page has 675,000 'likes', becoming a reference among European news programmes on the social network.

"These figures are the best reward for Antena 3 Noticias' vocation to communicate the news online and in real time, with news and specialist reports both from the TV news programmes and created by the online platform," said Atresmedia.

Analysing the social TV figures, 52% of @A3Noticias' Twitter followers are men, and 48% are women. The most followed topics are politics, economy and sports, followed by society, music, comedy and technology.

Although most of the followers are concentrated in Spain, recent years have seen a growth in followers among Spanish-speaking communities in Latin America.
