South Korea's KT Skylife has become the world's first satellite broadcaster to offer 24-hour transmission of three 4K Ultra HD channels, with content secured by NAGRA technology.

"Thanks to NAGRA, we are able to meet a tight deadline to deliver the world's largest lineup of 4K Ultra HD channels to our subscribers and gain the trust of Hollywood studios for licensing premium 4K content. We look forward to expanding our 4K Ultra HD offering in the near future," said Han Lee, CTO, KT Skylife.

The pay-TV operator which has over 4.2 million customers, has opted for NAGRA's anyCAST Security Services Platform plus hardware security certification process to secure its Ultra HD offer through the 4K-ready anyCAST GUARD security client.

Jean-Luc Jezouin, SVP sales, Asia-Pacific, NAGRA, added: "KT Skylife's vision of bringing 4K Ultra HD to consumers is now a reality and paving the way for Ultra HD TV in Asia. Our anyCAST solution was designed to meet the demands of a new generation of viewers who demand premium content delivered over any network to any device."
