German pay-TV broadcaster Alexandra Deinath (Sky Deutschland Fabian Helmich)Sky Deutschland wants to intensify its measures against the illegal screening of its programmes in pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels and other gastronomical venues.
To prevent the risk of losing millions of euros in revenues and to safeguard the value of its product, Sky Deutschland has set up a fraud management department. The section is headed by Alexandra Deinath (pictured), an expert in fraud management for more than 15 years, previously working at Telefonica O2 Germany and Viag Interkom.
Sky already carries out more than 140,000 inspections each year in Germany and Austria to uncover the illegal screening of its programmes. If a fraud case is detected, the pay-TV broadcaster presses charges against the offender under civil law for the illegal usage of private smartcards in industrial premises and for their handover to third-parties for illegal purposes.
Sky wants to more intensely take action against organised crime in future, for example the illegal distribution of private smartcards.
