Latino cable channel NBC Universo has announced that Comcast, one of the US's largest cable TV providers, has launched its HD signal.

Subscribers to Xfinity TV across Comcast's West Division markets in the US will be able to enjoy edgy entertainment, blockbuster movies and many of the world's top sports franchises in Spanish, in high definition.

NBC Universo HD is now available to millions of Xfinity TV households in California, Colorado, New Mexico, Seattle, Portland, Salt Lake City, Tucson, Minneapolis and Houston.

"NBC Universo is championing the effort to bring Latinos the world-class sports and modern, edgy entertainment they want and deserve, and watching this compelling content in HD is important to them," said Rubén Mendiola, president, NBC Universo. "Latinos are of paramount importance to Comcast, and by airing NBC Universo in HD, Xfinity TV is helping to bring a great viewing experience to many more US Hispanic households."

Earlier this year, satellite provider DirecTV began airing NBC Universo in HD to coincide with the network's relaunch.

Mainly offering sports programming, the Hispanic cable network also offers scripted series, reality series, blockbuster movies, music and must-see events.
