Atresmedia hits one in three viewers with multichannel premiere

New Spanish thriller Mar de Plástico chalked up nearly five million viewers for Atresmedia when its simultaneously premiered on four free-to-air (FTA) channels, gathering a 29.2% share.

So far the best premiere of the season for Antena 3, Mar de Plástico (Plastic Sea) also aired on Neox, Nova and Mega.

On Antena 3, the series led prime time by a wide margin, with a 23.6% share, drawing 4.02 million TV viewers. The thriller registered the golden minute of the day at 11.36pm, when over 4.4 million viewers (27.4%) of the audience watched it.

Mar de Plástico was shot in Spain's southern province of Almeria, in locations including San Isidro, Campohermoso, Tabernas, El Ejido, Balerma, La Mojonera, Vícar and Almeria, which were used to create a fictional town in which the plot takes place.

The Boomerang TV drama features a Spanish cast including Rodolfo Sancho, Belén López, Pedro Casablanc, Jesús Castro, Luis Fernández, Fernando Cayo and Patrick Criado.

The plot revolves around the investigation of a murder in a village.
