Europe's Television Entertainment Reality Network and India's iTV Network are planning to launch an ultra high definition (Ultra HD) factual entertainment channel called Insight.

The linear channel, which will also have an online presence, will feature co-productions with Zodiak Media, Off the Fence and Strix Television, the companies said at MIPCOM.

TERN has also forged partnerships with SES, Tricolor and United4All to launch the Ultra HD channel across Europe as well as India.

"With viewers increasingly watching content on multiple devices, broadcasters and advertisers must continually find new ways to connect with viewers. In response, Insight goes beyond simple viewer interaction to incentivise and reward audience engagement. By putting viewers at the centre of the action, we believe broadcasters and advertisers now have more opportunities to attract and retain audiences," said Mariam Zamaray, CEO, TERN.

"We are investing in creative, cost-effective and innovative ways to produce the best UHD content. We're excited about the possibilities that Insight brings."

The channel will air original factual entertainment shows like the Strix production Spartan X, On The Run (Zodiak Media), Dracula (Strix) and 7 Days (KIEM), which are shot at a standard-setting 50 frames per second. Insight's programming will be broadcast, as well as produced, in UHD.
