Newly launched over-the-top (OTT) platform Filmin Latino has launched a new app portfolio supporting Android and iOS mobile devices, Apple TV and Chromecast.

filminandroidThe apps are already available on Google Play and Apple Store and will soon be available for other manufacturers as the platform looks to extend its OTT services across smart TVs and consoles.

The originally Spanish platform, which launched in July, has a catalogue of nearly 1,000 films available on-demand across Mexico and intends to gradually launch throughout Latin America.

"Filmin Latino is the first step of an ambitious plan to expand Filmin's service to other territories in Latin America and Europe," stated the company when it launched in Mexico.

Instituto Mexico de Cinematografía (IMCINE) has contributed to the Filmin project to increase the platform's catalogue with a wide representation of Mexico's film industry.

The new platform aims to offer an alternative to the more commercial platforms by showing cult films from Hanek, von Trier, Sorrentino and Dolan as well as classics from Bergman, Kurosawa, Truffaut and Renair.
