A mobile application offering animation and games from Turner Broadcasting's children's brand Boomerang has been released in South East Asia and Australia.

Boomerang Watch and PlayThe app enables users to simultaneously watch video content and play games, drawing on shows such as The Tom and Jerry Show, The Garfield Show, Inspector Gadget and Mr Bean: The Animated Series. Soon to come are Be Cool Scooby-Doo! and the new series Wabbit A Looney Tunes Production.

Boomerang's websites in Asia and Australia have also been upgraded to coincide with the launch of the app, and are now suitable for second-screen mobile viewing.

"Boomerang Watch and Play offers the latest generation of digital natives the chance to enjoy the very best kids' franchises wherever they are and in a safe and flexible way. Backed up by awesome-looking new websites, the app provides a second screen extension to enhance the traditional linear experience," said Mark Eyers, chief content officer, Kids Networks, Turner International Asia Pacific.

The free app is currently available in English for iPads and Android-based tablets. A smartphone version is in development, Turner said. There is also an authentication function in the app, which can be initiated by Boomerang's pay-TV partners to offer a live stream of the Boomerang channel and on-demand video content.
