TheMovieAgency takes Oz content to US VOD, OTT platforms

Australian content sales house has landed a seven-title contract in the US with Digital Media Rights to take domestic content to American digital platforms.

All of the seven titles will be making their North American digital premieres and they will launch across a number of digital services including Amazon Prime, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu, Pluto TV, TubiTV, Google Play, FandangoNow, Vudu, Kanopy, Overdrive, and on cable VOD. They will also air across Digital Media Rights’ owned and operated OTT channels such as Midnight Pulp and Asian Crush.

Among the titles are two Cambodian feature films by director Amit Dubey, namely Mind Cage, a thriller about a psychiatrist struggling to defeat superstition and old beliefs when a disgraced traditional healer threatens to tear his world apart, and The Spell, a supernatural horror where a dark spirit's vengeance shatters the life of a couple in their new home.

The deal also includes three Malaysian films in Mandarin: Get Hard, a comedy about the adventure of a bachelor; My Surprise Girl (Drama. Nine-year-old Mimi and her cat Miracle embark on a journey to find a father she has never met; When Geek Meets With Serial Killer, a thriller where a cartoonist accidentally killed his best friend and comes out with a creative way to dispose the body.

Rounding out the portfolio is Argentinean documentary Cycles directed by Francisco Pedemonte who followed for months a 15-year-old cyclist struggling between the severity of his training for the Olympic games and French horror story entitled Rutabaga.

The agreement was negotiated between Philippe Louis Galliano, CEO of and John Stack, programming/acquisitions manager for Digital Media Rights.
