AMC-14 Ready for March Flight
The AMC-14 satellite built for SES AMERICOM was delivered to Baikonur, Kazakhstan, and is being readied for its Proton Breeze M launch set for March 15 (March 14 Eastern Time), the company said Wednesday.
As reported earlier in the week, the satellite will support services delivered by EchoStar. AMC-14 will help the satellite TV company increase the number of high-def channels and other offerings delivered nationwide, SES said.
The A2100 spacecraft was built by Lockheed Martin and is being lifted by International Launch Services. Once in orbit, the bird will reside at the 61.5-degree orbital position, SES said.
AMC-14 is an advanced, high-powered Ku-Band BSS satellite. It is the third satellite dedicated to AMERICOM2Home.
