Cole - We must beat Hammers

Joe Cole feels that failure to beat his former side West Ham on Saturday could end Chelsea's dreams of taking the title.

Coming off the back of a disappointing showing in the Carling Cup Final defeat to Tottenham, the Blues now face a make-or-break week which includes a trip to face the Hammers at Upton Park before a crucial UEFA Champions League showdown with Olympiakos on Wednesday.

Avram Grant's side currently sit nine points adrift of league leaders Arsenal and could only manage a goalless draw with the Greek champions in the first leg of their last 16 tie.

They have also won just one of their last five games, and England winger Cole admits that performances need to improve drastically if their season is not to be written off in the next five days.

"If we don't win on Saturday and we don't win at home to Olympiakos in the Champions League on Wednesday night, we can kiss goodbye to them," he told the Sun.

"It really is nail-biting stuff from now until the end of the season."
