Sirius Picks ILS for Future Satellite Launches

Sirius has started preparations to expand satellite capacity.

On Friday, the company and International Launch Services announced a contract for the flight of two Sirius satellites on the Proton Breeze M vehicle. ILS has supported Sirius before, launching the satellite radio company's initial constellation of three birds in 2000.

The first future satellite, Sirius FM-6, is under construction at Space Systems/Loral and is set for launch in fourth quarter 2010. Sirius has not announced its plans for the second launch.
