Arianespace Ready for 2008
After a strong 2007, Arianespace said it expects good things to happen in 2008.
The launch services provider said it has seven Ariane 5 launches planned for the year. That includes the Sunday launch of the ATV, or Automated Transfer Vehicle, consisting of a mission to the International Space Station.
There will be other launches for Arianespace this year, including TerreStar 1, dubbed the largest geostationary commercial communications satellite ever built.
As for 2007, the launch service provider had six Ariane 5 missions. Arianespace said it launched 12 of 15 commercial communications satellites placed into geostationary orbit during the year
Arianespace said it has launched 254 satellites for 66 customers to date, accounting for more than half of all satellites in operation.
