XM Canada Crosses 400K Milestone
Canadian Satellite Radio Holdings, which operates the XM Canada brand north of the border, said its service has crossed the 400,000 satellite radio subscriber milestone, an effort achieved in a little more than two years.
The numbers were reported for the three-month period that ended Feb. 29. According to press reports, the service added 49,700 customers during that quarter.
According to Michael Moskowitz, president and CEO of XM Canada, a significant proportion of the subscriber base came from a rapidly growing automotive channel, "which is a key segment for long-term success in our industry," he said. Also, the company maintained strong momentum in retail sales due to its NHL exclusivity, strategic partnerships and strong consumer demand for satellite radio during the holiday season, Moskowitz said.
