Ballack issues Euro warning
Midfielder demands Chelsea concentration
Michael Ballack has warned his Chelsea team-mates that any more lapses in concentration could cost them their UEFA Champions League dream.
The Stamford Bridge side were beaten 2-1 by Fenerbahce in their quarter-final first leg in Istanbul on Wednesday to leave them needing victory at home next week to progress to the semis.
Chelsea had looked in control of the match as they led 1-0 through Deivid's own goal, but missed a number of chances and allowed the Turkish side back into the match after the break.
Germany international Ballack knows Blues only have themselves to blame for returning to England on the back of a defeat.
He said: "It's the Champions League and you have to concentrate for the 90 minutes. One second that you don't concentrate, you concede a goal and the game changes.
"It was our fault against Fenerbahce because we controlled the game, had everything in our hands but didn't concentrate for every second. That's our fault. We have another game to put it right.
"It's very disappointing when you have everything in your hands and throw it away. It should not happen but it did and we have to put a line under it.
"We are disappointed because we had a big chance to win and we had the game taken out of our hands.
"We had two good chances made for Didier (Drogba) to score the second goal but we did not concentrate enough, but we will have another go next week.
"It was our fault we gave it up. But it was a good game. We are strong at home but we have to concentrate.
"Fenerbahce are a strong team even after going 1-0 down. They played seven or eight players up front.
"They can score away from home, so we will have to concentrate, but everything is in our hands and I am looking forward to next week."
Team-mate Didier Drogba still believes Chelsea can progress to the last four despite their setback in Turkey.
The striker said: "It was a very disappointing result, but I believe we can still go through after the next game.
"But the result is not a good result for us so we will want to work on it and see what didn't work against Fenerbahce."
