MIPTV - CANNES. Orange has given further details of its cross platform service that will see the launch of a six-channel movie and TV series pack that will provide the backbone of its Orange TV service.

In a new development, it has emerged that Orange TV has contracted satellite capacity on both Astra and Eutelsat, which will extend the service to Spain and Poland, in addition to the previously announced home market of France.

Orange Cinéma Séries will be available as a premium service on TV, PC and mobile. Satellite services will be facilitated by sister company GlobeCast. The DTH platform will provide additional capacity when the bandwidth is insufficient to run an IPTV service over the existing ADSL infrastructure.

Orange will offer a wide range of movies and TV series, both brand new and library titles, with contracts already in place with Warner Bros, HBO, Gaumont and Fidélité Films.
