Galileo Wins OK, Spacecom Launch Set

On Wednesday, the European Parliament gave its final approval to Galileo's deployment phase, a move that paves the way for the European satellite radio navigation system to be operational by 2013.

INTERNATIONAL - Spacecom, the Israeli operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, said its newest communications satellite, AMOS-3, is scheduled to launch today from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. AMOS-3, designed and constructed by Israel Aerospace Industries MBT Space Division, will enhance the company's satellite constellation at the 4-degree West longitude orbital location, providing back-up capabilities and service reliability.
