EM.Sport sells entertainment branch

German media company EM.Sport Media has sold its entertainment branch to Studio 100, which offers children’s and youth programmes in the Benelux countries.
The Belgian-based company paid €41 million for the subsidiary, EM.Sport Media announced in Munich. The federal cartel office and local media authorities still have to approve the transaction.

EM.Sport Media announced in May 2007 its plans to concentrate completely on its activities in the field of sports and to part with its second foothold of children’s and youth entertainment. The section includes the content production and distribution company EM.Entertainment and children’s channel Junior.TV, which is distributed on pay-TV platform Premiere.

EM.Sport Media owns Deutsches SportFernsehen, TV production company Plazamedia, web portal Sport 1 and creative agency Creation Club, amongst other interests. The largest single shareholder is Leo Kirch’s company KF 15 with a 17.13% stake.
