Sky HD EPG to make autumn debut
Sky is to download the new version of its electronic programme guide to Sky HD households this autumn.
The EPG is described as an evolution of the current Sky Guide and said by the broadcaster to “create a foundation for future on demand enhancements”. The guide brings a completely new look and more intuitive navigation. It will be possible to search for any show in the next seven days by entering a name, genre or sub genre.
Presented in HD quality resolution, the guide presents all the menu options on a single screen. Programmes belonging to the same series or channel will be stacked together under a single listing. The Now and Next banner has also been improved. Both recording and Series Link functionality will be available directly from the TV Guide grid as is the case at present.
The new EPG brings together work from NDS, OpenTV and Sky’s own in-house team.
Sky HD remains the broadcaster’s fastest selling product. There are currently 465,000 subscribers.
