Heikki will win, say McLaren
Team backs driver to claim first Grand Prix
McLaren are confident Heikki Kovalainen will win his maiden grand prix before too long.
CEO Martin Whitmarsh, believes Kovalainen, who is currently languishing in seventh position in the Drivers' Standings, has seen his chances of winning a race blighted by bad luck.
While team-mate Lewis Hamilton has completed four podium finishes, including firsts in Australia and Monte Carlo, Kovalainen has stepped up just once this season, finishing in third place in Malaysia.
Since joining McLaren at the end of last season the 23-year-old Finn has failed to convert a number of impressive qualifying stints into podium finishes.
"Whilst there is underlying satisfaction with his personal performance, Heikki has suffered some misfortune, which has taken from him the opportunity to win his first grand prix," said Whitmarsh.
"But he is an extremely positive guy who realises that he has a great career ahead of him.
"There is no doubt that he is going to enjoy many grand prix victories during the course of his career."
