Animal Planet goes nationwide in Holland
Discovery’s Animal Planet will get nationwide analogue coverage in Holland following an agreement with UPC. On July 1st, the channel will be available on all UPC nets including Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The analogue distribution will supplement digital carriage.
The move is remarkable, as cable companies in The Netherlands are not willing to add new channels to their analogue line-up. In this case, Animal Planet is available on most analogue networks across the country, as well as in all digital tiers on all networks.
On the UPC networks, the number of analogue channels will remain the same. In various cities, other channels have to make way for the Discovery owned channel. In Amsterdam, it is remarkably BBC World News that will disappear.
