XXHome on air in Germany

XXHome, a thematic channel focusing on house and garden themes, has launched in Germany.
The service can be received in digital on Astra (19.2° East) as well as the cable networks of Unitymedia and Kabel BW. Cable operators can access the channel through Eutelsat’s direct-to-cable platform KabelKiosk. The free-to-air station, which plans to finance through advertising and sponsoring, is using playout facilities at Park Studios in Potsdam-Babelsberg where also most of the programmes will be produced. The ready-to-air signal is sent from Babelsberg through a digital broadband line to APS Astra Platform Services’ uplink station which transmits the signal unencrypted on the frequency 12.480 GHz V (SR 27,500, FEC 3/4). Test transmissions have been running since the end of March.

The TV station, which is mostly backed by private and financial investors, targets viewers aged from 30 years. The focus is on interior decoration, gardening and DIY. Lifestyle programmes are also part of the schedule.
