Cyfrowy Polsat changes line

June 26, 2008

The Polish DTH platform Cyfrowy Polsat has decided to use its own name for a soon-to-be-launched MVNO service rather than Halo Polsat, as had previously been announced.

Local reports indicate the mobile telephony service will make its debut this autumn, with an initial investment of PLN12.7 million (€3.8 million) from the DTH platform.

The news comes as Dominik Libicki, the president of Cyfrowy Polsat, has expressed satisfaction with its Q2 financial performance, which was boosted by the addition to HBO channels to the platform’s offer.

Analysts forecast that Cyfrowy Polsat will post revenues of PLN1.1 billion, EBITDA of PLN352 million and a net profit of PLN259 million this year.
Its subscriber total is predicted to rise from the current 2.2 million to at least 2.5 million by year’s end.
