Star adds to Hong Kong channels

News Corp’s Asian broadcaster Star TV will launch another channel on the Now TV IPTV platform in Hong Kong later this month, featuring classic Hong Kong-produced films including some starring Hong Kong movie icon Bruce Lee (pictured, left).
Star Chinese Movies 2 will join sister service Star Chinese Movies, which Star Taiwan general manager Jason Siu claimed was “the most popular movie channel in the territory”. The second channel already broadcasts in Singapore (on StarHub Digital Cable) and North America (on KyLin TV, GekTV and the Dish Network) and offers Hong Kong-produced movies from the 1970s to the 1990s. The channel will kick off with a Bruce Lee retrospective.

Star has output deals with studios in Hong Kong including Media Asia Distribution, Emperor Motion Pictures, JCE Movies, Universe International, Filmko and China Star.

Other channels Star offers through Now TV include Star Movies, Star World, Star One, Star Plus and Star Sports.
