DIRECTV to Deliver Olympic Content from NBCU

DIRECTV said it is delivering video-on-demand programming from the Olympics via its VOD service, DIRECTV on Demand, through an agreement with NBC Universal.

As part of the deal, NBCU is providing DIRECTV with 10 VOD titles each week, including athlete features, Beijing previews and more, the DBS company said. The service will be available through the end of the Olympics in both standard-definition and high-def.

NBCU will produce more than 500 titles now through the end of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

To access the VOD content, customers with VOD-enabled DVRs can tune to channel 1008 or go to the home of DIRECTV on Demand - Channel 1000 - to see Olympic highlights. DIRECTV on Demand is available to customers who have a DIRECTV Plus HD DVR or R22 DVR receiver.
