Eight digital channels for TVE
Televisión Española (TVE) has outlined its plans for digital-terrestrial channels, post analogue switch-off in under two years' time.
With the arrival of Spain's analogue switch over (April 3, 2010) and a new complete complementary multiplex for TVE, the national public broadcaster will have a total of eight digital channels to transmit on DTT.
Those channels will be the convencional La 1, La 2, Canal 24 Horas (24 hour news), Clan TVE (children's channel), TeleDeporte (sports), new service Canal Cultura (culture), TVE HD (High Definition) and TVE Internacional (TVE's international version). Docu TVE and Canal Clásico will disappear and be replaced by Canal Cultura and TVE HD.
TVE HD will offer high-def information, cultural and sporting content. Canal Cultura, as the name suggests will offer programming relating to Spain's culture and will be developed in partnership with the Ministry of Culture.
Also the public broadcaster will transmit six of its radio stations in digital - Radio 2, Radio Clásica, Radio 3, Radio 5, Radio 5 Todo Noticias and Radio Exterior de España.
