Premiere axes Premiere Serie

German pay-TV operator Premiere is pulling the plug on its thematic channel Premiere Serie, replacing it with entertainment service Fox Channel which will be available from 4 October.
Premiere announced the planned inclusion of Fox Channel on its platform at the beginning of August, but without revealing that Premiere Serie would be removed. Current series currently screened on Premiere Serie will in future be screened on events channel Premiere 4, including the German TV premieres of US productions Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles and the second Dexter series as well as new episodes of Nip/Tuck, Supernatural and 24. Older series will switch to Premiere Nostalgie, for example Hoganís Heroes, and to Premiere Krimi, for example Matlock.

Fox Channel, which is currently only available on the cable networks of Unitymedia as well as via satellite on arenaSAT, screens mostly US series such as Lost, The Wire, Medium and In Treatment. The channel wants to commence using Dolby Digital sound and widescreen picture format 16:9 later this year to enhance its appeal to technically progressive viewers.
