MTV cuts the volume in Mid-East
The Holy Month of Ramadan is just days away, and MTV Arabia says it will change its programming during the month.
MTV Arabia, which claims to be the Middle East's premier youth entertainment and lifestyle channel, says it will mark the Holy Month of Ramadan in quiet contemplation, and air only cultural news programmes and reality shows.
A more “robust” and musically conventional MTV is available from Gulf DTH/Showtime Arabia to its pay-TV viewers.
MTV Arabia is broadcast free-to-air from Nilesat and is a j-v between MTV networks and the UAE-based Arabian Television Network, part of the Arab Media Group. IT started transmissions last year on October 27, launching formally on November 17 2007. This year is the channel’s first Ramadan.
