Turksat plans two more satellites

Turksat has confirmed plans to launch two more satellites over the next six years. News of Turksat 4A and Turksat 5A follows the June launch of Turksat 3A from French Guiana.

Turksat Director-General Ozkan Dalbay said channels had now migrated from Turksat 1C to the new satellite.

“Four TV channels from Kazakhstan are eager to broadcast through Turksat 3A, and a Kazakh data transfer company made a demand too. We are still holding talks with them. But they requested 10% of the capacity. It is impossible. We can only allocate a 4% for them because 75 per cent capacity of Turksat 3A is full. This rate would reach 95% in October,” said Dalbay.

Turksat 4A is planned to cover north and central Africa.
