TF1 wants to lead web news
Ready with its new management, loyal to its programmes, TF1 announced last week that the new 2008-2009 season would be marked by a visible advancement in terms of new media and technologies.
Claiming its leading position in the audiovisual market, TF1, with schedules based on entertainment and reality TV, dramas and series, as well as news, will bring a few novelties like the adaptation of formats such as Dance Floor and the launch of daily serial Seconde Chance, but no revolution.
Major evolution will come from its web strategy. The French network is thus about to launch online its third news edition, the “JT Off” and expects to become a leader of news online within the next 18 months.
TF1 is also preparing the launch next January of a new web portal. The network also stressed that it would raise the proportion of programming in itrs HD feed in the coming months to reach 50% in 2009. “It’s the way of a spectacular television,” CEO Nonce Paolini asserted.
