IMDB to offer free movies and TV series
The Internet Movie Database (IMDB) has announced it will offer free streaming availability of some 6,000 full-length feature films and TV shows. The content is being provided by CBS, Hulu, Sony Pictures Television and over 500 independent filmmakers.
“Our goal is to show our users every movie and TV show on the internet for free on IMDb.com,” said Col Needham, founder and MD of IMDb.com. The website was acquired in 1998 by Amazon.com.
The list of available titles includes Raising Arizona, Some Like it Hot, Fever Pitch, Fiddler on the Roof, and Hoop Dreams. A number of current TV shows are also available, including The Simpsons, The Office, Family Guy, House M.D., 24, and Heroes.
Older shows include Bewitched, Star Trek, Charlie’s Angels, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The site will also be premiering early episodes of new and returning shows, including 30 Rock, Knight Rider, and Lipstick Jungle.
Initially, the streaming videos will only be available to US based viewers with the exception of a few independent productions.
