No disconnection for Virgin Media users
There has been a lot of scare mongering recently over the suggestions that internet services providers will disconnect any of their customers who have been found to persistently have something to do with copyright piracy.
Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia conference in New York, the CEO of Virgin Media, Neil Berkett said that there are no regulations or legal framework which allows them to disconnect a customer and therefore they will not be doing this.
Virgin Media believe that it is the responsibility of the copyright holders to pursue the people who share pirated materials.
The idea of removing customers was the idea of the BPI, and the ISPs so far have steered clear of actually saying that they would be taking things that far.
