Eredivise Live scores 200,000 subs
The Dutch live football channel Eredivisie Live said it had reached 200,000 subscribers three weeks after the start of the new season. The chnannel is jointly owned by the CV Eredivisie (which represents the Dutch clubs) and Endemol and is distributed on all platforms.
The channel was launched because the bids from premium broadcasters did not meet the expectations of the clubs. The channel has distribution contracts with all platforms, including all cable operators, DTT (Digitenne), DTH (Canal Digitaal) and IPTV (Tele2 and KPN). The retail price differers per platforms, but averages about EUR 10 a month.
According to Paul Römer, general manager of Endemol Nederland, the success of the channel is also diue to the fast take-up of digital television in the past few months. “This gives us reason to be optimistic about the future of Eredivisie Live.”
