More DTH for Hungary

HCA/HCTA Tihany. Details – still as yet unconfirmed - have begun to emerge of the forthcoming Hungarian DTH platform to be launched by T-Home, a division of the incumbent telco Magyar Telekom.

Broadband TV News understands, from unofficial industry sources, that the service will start technical trials on October 1, soft launch in mid-November and make its debut on December 1. It will be distributed by Amos – as Broadband TV News has previously reported – and offer a basic and mini-packages, with three HD channels in its line-up.

Unofficially, the upcoming service is already being referred to as T-Sat, though it will, in fact, come under the T-Home division. T-Home launched an IPTV platform just under two years ago that is currently understood to have between 10,000-12,000 subscribers.

T-Kábel, another division of Magyar Telekom, is meanwhile the second largest cable operator in Hungary.

It is expected that the T-Home DTH service will be offered as part of a triple play package.
